Ticketmaster congratulates all the winners of this year’s Queensland Music Awards, especially our wonderful client, The Tivoli in Brisbane.

Earlier this week at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds, the music loving public joined forces with the Queensland music industry to celebrate the state’s finest songwriters, festivals and venues.

The sold-out event was an incredible showcase of the contribution that music makes to Queensland’s cultural life, and the exceptional calibre of musicianship that the state has to offer to a worldwide audience.

Affectionately known as ‘The Tiv’ the 1,500 capacity building which celebrated its 100 year anniversary last year, took out the coveted title over The Triffid in Newsted.

Commenting on the award win Dave Sleswick, Creative Director at The Tivoli said: “The Tiv has become a rite of passage for established touring bands and emerging local talent. Since becoming the new owners of the Tivoli after it was faced with an uncertain future, we have worked extremely hard and made it our mission to continue its legacy as an iconic venue which artists love to play. We are so glad that our work has been recognised with this Queensland Music Award win!”

The venue has an incredible gig history (can be viewed here) and has hosted a string of both international and local music royalty including Bob Dylan, PJ Harvey, Noel Gallagher, Slash, Marilyn Manson, Ian Brown, Ryan Adams, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ice Cube, Nick Cave, Powderfinger, Regurgitator, Silverchair, Paul Kelly, You Am I, Tina Arena, Hoodoo Gurus, Sarah Blasko, Tame Impala, Gang of Youths and The Church.
